The Ordway House was a small-scale interior design project located in a historic area of Washington, DC. What started as a simple cabinet replacement project evolved into the opportunity to rethink the role of the kitchen. What once was a closed off kitchen and powder room is now an open and inviting space that allows the family to utilize the dining room with it simultaneously —- while one parent is prepping for lunch or dinner, the children can work at the island or in the dining room. Small interventions such as removing a wall and relocating a powder room allowed us to solve the challenges and meet the client’s goals.
