The project entailed an addition to an existing colonial style home in the heart of Washington D.C. The goal was to create a larger kitchen and to provide an additional family room in place of an existing patio enclosure that was inadequately serving the function. The scope also included a wine cellar at the lower level along with structural support for phase II of the project: adding a second story to the addition. Maximizing daylighting, flow, and practicality were goals that were satisfied through this design exercise.
